Scenes said to perpetuate the sexist stereotype of an emotional woman crying over the loss of a man, angered thousands of Game of Thrones fans.
But GoT star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has hit back at critics of the ending of the TV show, claiming that they had failed to understand.
The Danish-born actor, who played Jaime Lannister throughout all eight seasons of the hit series took to Twitter to set the record straight, after a storm of protest.

And the actor said: ”Game of Thrones: Brienne and Jaime scene from final season misunderstood. Yep, that’s it!”
Meanwhile GoT writer and producer George R.R. Martin is creating a new video game.
It’s being reported that the video game, called “Elden Ring” will be a dark fantasy game, in the style of “Dark Souls”.
The American author is working with the developers “FromSoftware” in what will be the first time that Martin has worked on a non-Game of Thrones title.
But some fans have mocked the writer for not finishing the GoT book series and concentrating instead on this new project.
Martin had mentioned having worked on a game in a blog post he wrote after the finale of Game of Thrones.
Elden Ring will be available on Xbox One and PC, Microsoft said. While no release date has yet been given, it will coincide with the next generation of Xbox hardware due to arrive late in 2020.
The game will be published by Bandai Namco, whose website mistakenly revealed many details of the game before the announcement at the E3 convention which start runs in Los Angeles from June 11 to 15.
