Starz have pleased fans of Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead franchise by releasing the first official still from Ash vs Evil Dead, which sees Bruce Campbell reprise his role as the hero Ash from the aforementioned Evil Dead.
The photo gives a glimpse of Ash with his infamous chainsaw in place of his hand that was lopped off. However the name tag on the girl’s vest is the real gem in the photo, it looks a lot like something straight from your local Sainsbury’s. t is revealed that Ash remains a stock boy, this time with Value Stop. Emplyees Pablo (Ray Santiago) & Kelly (Dana Delorenzo) are his new sidekicks.
Ash once again is the guy found accidentally responsible for unleashing the evil dead unto the world. “He’s the only one stupid enough to really tamper with those spirits”, Sam Raimi (who directed the first episode of the new series) told EW. “And he does, but he’s also still a really good monster fighter. So he’s also going to be kicking some deadite buttocks, if you’ll pardon my French”
“It’s The Searchers with carnage and mayhem” adds Campbell discussing the newest chapter in the Evil Dead saga. “I’m relegated a little bit into the John Wayne mode these days with my team–the young, virile, evil fighters who will pair up with Ash and take on this nemesis: this never ending, ever evolving nemesis.”
In the 10-episode Ash vs Evil Dead series premiering this fall, Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, the aging chainsaw-handed monster hunter who’s been avoiding responsibility, maturity and terrors of the Evil Dead for the last 30 years. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy mankind as it’s known, Ash is finally forced to face both his personal and literal demons. It turns out Destiny has no plans to release the unlikely hero from it’s “Evil” grip.
“Ash vs Evil Dead” is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead and is set to premiere on STARZ in fall 2015.
