Geekdom is ablaze with buzz about the latest trailer for Zack Snyder’s Superman film – revealing more about the superhero’s origins and packing a hefty punch.
Man of Steel is the latest installment in the rejuvenated Superman franchise and from first glances, it may be the strongest it has been in decades.
The most exciting news for fanboys is who is at the helm: director Zack Snyder — who previously proved his comic book-adaptation pedigree with 300 and Watchmen.
Producer and story writer Christopher Nolan is also weighing in to improve DC’s lot, he is held in high regard for his brilliant job rebooting Batman.
The trailer is a big one, at three minutes long, and shows baby Kal-El’s beginnings on Krypton, his arrival on Earth, his childhood, and his transformation into the disaster-averting, lycra-clad, flying superhero we all know.
It also features a tantalising few bars of Hans Zimmer’s film score and we learn what the “S” on Superman’s chest stands for… and it’s not “Superman”.
The film boasts a seriously impressive cast, with British actor Henry Cavill (The Tudors) starring as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White.
Man of Steel is due to be released on June 14
