When it comes to sci-fi, Steven Spielberg is one man who knows how to bring the genre to life on the big-screen.
The legendary filmmaker has delivered various films of that particular category in the past including Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), E.T: The Extra Terrestrial (1982) and A.I: Artificial Intelligence (2001). However he is now introducing us to yet another spectacular futuristic world in the form of the upcoming Ready Player One.
The sci-fi adventure unveiled its teaser trailer at the SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) recently and is now available to watch in our video box.
Set in the year 2044, the plot focuses on the death of the creator of an MMO game called the Oasis. Around the time of his death, he releases a video in which he challenges all Oasis users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune. It is left up to a young man to try and find the clues and embark on a race for the Egg.
The preview contains plenty of action and pace while there are also throwbacks to the 80s and 90s with Freddy Krueger, the Iron Giant and Back to the Future’s DeLorean all popping up.
Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life, X-Men: Apocalypse) plays our young hero with additional casting support coming from Hannah John-Kamen, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, Kae Alexander and Oscar-winner Mark Rylance.
Ready Player One will be released in the UK on 30 th March 2018.
