After the success of both IT (2017) and TV series Castle Rock, the interest in stories from bestselling author Stephen King has increased dramatically. Now, Paramount Pictures have debuted the first trailer for the latest horror adaptation, Pet Sematary.
Based on the book by Stephen King in 1983, Pet Sematary is said to be one of his most terrifying story, following Louis and Rachel Creed as they move to the countryside where they discover that their new house is close to a creepy pet cemetery believed to rest on an ancient Indian burial ground.
The new movie will star Jason Clarke (First Man) and Amy Seimetz (Alien: Covenant) as Louis and Rachel Creed, with John Lithgow (The Crown) as their neighbour Jud Crandall.
The trailer itself is pretty scarce of plot, leaving the creepy images to do the work. From what we can see, this will be a fairly faithful adaptation, with a few hints at the main story and, of course, the cat, Church.
Pet Sematary has already received multiple adaptations, with the most memorable being the 1989 film. But this looks set to be a much better version.
There are plenty of other adaptations of Stephen King’s work coming to the big and little screen, with Doctor Sleep, Sleeping Beauties, The Stand, and of course, IT: Chapter 2 (2019). This is truly a great time to be a fan of the King of Horror.
Pet Sematary will be released on 5th April 2019.
