JJ Abrams has confirmed that production for the highly anticipated Star Trek sequel will begin shortly.
The Lost creator has wrapped up Super 8 (check out the trailer in the video box) and is now concentrating on Captain Kirk and crew.
Speaking to MTV News he said, ‘The truth is that my focus has been so much on finishing Super 8 that it’s been something I’m looking forward to getting to, but with an incredibly compressed post schedule, there hasn’t been a whole lot of time for me to be working with the writers.’
‘Now that Super 8 is drawing to a close in terms of this post schedule, I’m looking forward to jumping in and hopefully getting that ready as soon as possible.’
As of yet the script has not been finalised but is currently being worked on and it is unclear whether the super secretive Abrams will be behind the camera again for the sequel or just part of the production team.
Star Trek 2 will be released June 29th 2012
