Hot on the heels of the release of the Batman teaser trailer, Marvel strike back against their rival comic book outlet with the trailer for the reboot of the Spidey franchise hitting the web.
We see plenty of Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) portraying neglected neighbourhood resident, Peter Parker, before transforming into our friendly neighbourhood web slinger thanks to the fangs of a radioactive spider.
Garfield looks a lot more like Twilight’s Robert Pattinson than the nerdy look of Tobey Maguire we are accustomed to from Sam Raimi’s Spiderman films.
It seems Marc Webb is trying to separate himself from the recently finished trilogy, by bringing a darker, more brooding Peter Parker to the screen.
One very telling difference between this latest instalment and Raimi’s franchise is the inclusion of the web head’s parents, who were left out of previous films.
In the Marvel Universe Peter’s parents were secret agents working against the Red Skull. This will likely see Peter searching for the reasons behind his parent’s death.
The Amazing Spiderman is set for release July 2012.
