Robert Downey Jr whetted the appetite of comic geeks the world over at this year’s Hero Complex Film Festival.
Speaking at the showing of the first two Iron Man films the Due Date star let spill on the latest goings on from the set of Joss Whedon’s The Avengers.
“I just thought, ‘How are you gonna put all of us clowns together? He’s wearing a suit, he’s all jacked up, he’s so and so and poor Mark Ruffalo, he’s gonna out do us’. And we’re about six weeks in and I have to say Joss Whedon is nailing it.”
Downey Jr was clearly excited about the progress of the film, adding: “He’s so smart and so good. And it’s gonna be great. I can’t believe I just said it, I never could’ve believed this but it’s gonna be great.”
Joined at the festival by Iron Man 1& 2 director Jon Favreau, who left the franchise to take the helm of Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Downey Jr indicated that the Cowboys and Aliens director will be helping Shane Black on the third installment.
“There’s going to be this kind of conglomerate of efforts,” hinted Downey Jr.
The Sherlock Holmes man will be joined by Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo for next year’s super-team film.
The Avengers will be released on May 4th 2012
