Jerry Bruckheimer, the man behind Pirates of the Caribbean, has begun his hunt for the actor to star alongside Johnny Depp in the forthcoming Lone Ranger movie.
Speaking to the LA times the producer told fans not to expect another Hollywood A-lister though; ‘You want somebody who can do the humour and somebody who’s attractive and charismatic. But I think it will be somebody who’s not that well known. That’s my guess.’
Johnny Depp has already been confirmed to trade in the high seas for the Western plains, and has revealed plans to completely re-invent the Native American Tonto.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly the Golden Globe winner spoke about how he will change the dynamic that exists between the Lone Ranger and his sidekick;
‘I remember watching it as a kid, with Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore, and going: ‘Why is the fucking Lone Ranger telling Tonto what to do?’
The Disney reboot will take elements from both the original 1930s comic strip and Miguel De Cervantes’ epic novel, Don Quixote.
The Lone Ranger is scheduled for a 2014 release.
