After months of build-up, the long anticipated first official trailer for the brand new Ghostbusters has finally been released by Sony Pictures.
And with this release comes the confirmation of the new film’s title – Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
It’s been 30 years since we saw the original Ghostbusters on the big screen, and this new film is set to be a direct continuation from those two movies, with no connection to the Paul Feig reboot in 2016.
The new movie is set to include appearances from Paul Rudd (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Carrie Coon (Fargo) among many others, including the original cast; Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts.
Directed by Jason Reitman, the son of the original movies director Ivan Reitman, Afterlife was co-written by both Reitman and Gil Kenan (Poltergeist) and seems to bring back some of the most iconic elements from the original films, including Ecto-1 and what appears to be Slimer.
The new trailer is very light on plot details, instead giving us an idea of what the film will entail and displays a much more serious tone, but gives us evidence to show that this movie is in safe hands and will be worth the wait for fans.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife releases 10th July 2020.
