The final trailer for Disney’s Maleficent has been released, this time with a cartoon twist.

Whereas all of the other trailers for the movie have been dark and making the conscious effort to differ itself from the happy animated version of Sleeping Beauty, this trailer seems to lean the other way and use animation to appeal to the old school Disney fans.

The trailer opens with an animated forest, with a voice telling the story of an evil fairy. We also get a view of the cartoon Aurora in her deep sleep.

‘You know the tale, do you want to know the truth?’

This then fades into a real life trailer where we see scenes we have seen in other trailers such as the first meeting of Aurora and Maleficent.

Innocent Aurora questions Maleficent’s lack of wings.

‘I had wings once, but they were stolen from me.’

Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie playing the part of the evil fairy Maleficent was a great choice for the movie as we become more enticed with her character with each trailer.

This time, we are given the twist that perhaps there is more to the king, Auroras father than meets the eye and there is a hint at a plot twist and a dark history between the king and the fairy.

We also see a new scene, of young Maleficent in flight with what appears to be a love interest.

The music also takes on a new form, whereas in past trailers we have heard dramatic music, or the haunting rendition of Once Upon a Dream by Lana Del Rey, but in this trailer, a soft fairytale fitting tune can be heard that goes against the dark feeling of the trailer.

Maleficent is due to hit screens on the 28th of May but until then you can watch the final trailer here.
