South African star Sharlto Copley is set for an amazing rise from unknown actor to stardom by joining the cast for the The A-Team movie.
Sharlto’s first major acting role came in trans-Atlantic box office smash District 9 and after the success of the innovative alien mock-u-mentary, the 35-year-old is about to enter the Hollywood big leagues.
District 9 sees him playing government agent Wikus van der Merwe and now he is in final talks to star as ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock in the upcoming film based on cult classic TV show The A-Team.
Shooting begins this autumn in Vancouver and if he bags the role made famous by Dwight Schultz, Sharlto would join an impressive cast boasting Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper.
Also in talks to join the film is actress Jessica Biel, set to play the former love of Cooper’s character Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck.
Neeson will star as John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, originally portrayed by George Peppard, while Ultimate Fighting star Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is to play Sergeant BA Baracus, the character immortalised by Mr T.
Set for release in July 2010, The A-Team will be directed by Narc helmer Carnahan and produced by Ridley and Tony Scott from a script written by Wanted screenwriter Michael Brandt.
We love it when a plan comes together.
