The official trailer for the real-life World War II drama The Railway Man was released this week.
Oscar-winning actors Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman star in the film which focuses on the extraordinary true story of British officer Eric Lomax (Firth).
During the war, he was captured by the Japanese and forced to work on the Thai-Burma Railway in Singapore.
After returning home years later, he struggled to overcome his traumatic experience and decided to return to Asia to confront one of his captors.
Kidman plays the role of Lomax’s wife with additional support coming from Jeremy Irvine as the young Lomax and Skarsgård as his loyal friend.
The film is directed by Jonathan Teplitzky and written by Liverpool’s own Frank Cottrell Boyce.
The Railway Man is set for release in cinemas on January 4th 2014.
