Final Destination 2 director David R Ellis is set to take the helm of a live action remake of Yasuomi Umetsu’s anime movie Kite.

The 1998 original told the tale of a young woman living in a state reeling from financial collapse (sound familiar?), where an evil security force make their living through human trafficking.

After her police office father is killed, she takes on the task of hunting down dear dad’s murderers with the help of his own ex-partner.

Shooting is due to start in January with Moisés Cosio, Alejandro Saevich, Anant Singh and Brian Cox producing.
