Cinema-goers have been treated to some great superhero movies in recent years and have become comfortable in their company. Especially, the ones that stereotypically put their pants on the wrong way round etc.
Marvel will be attempting to alter people’s perceptions of the superhero stereotype by introducing to us the Guardians of the Galaxy this summer.
It looks set to be a jar to the senses. This group includes, a raccoon named Rocket and a talking tree… feel reassured now?
The official trailer for Marvel’s latest work was recently released, leaving some critics to question whether this is the company’s biggest risk yet.
When questioned with this in a recent interview, director James Gunn denied the accusation as he stated, “I don’t think it’s the riskiest Marvel property”.
He continued: “Iron Man was by far the riskiest. It was a film company that didn’t have much, raising money to make a film based on a property that wasn’t much more well-known than Guardians of the Galaxy”.
Obviously the famous Tony Stark has had three movies to his name, but will this be the case for the ‘Guardians’?
On first viewing this novice team seem to look as if they may struggle to hold their own against the likes of Captain America, Thor, The Avengers and so on. But we’ll see..
However, all you Marvel fans out there will be sad to hear that comic legend Stan Lee won’t be stopping by in this one, as is customary for the Marvel movies.
During an interview Lee said, “This is the one group I didn’t create”. He then continued to mention, “I’m not even sure who they all are.”
Let’s hope the guys at Marvel don’t lose their way without the assured confidence of Mr. Lee on this one movie.
Sporting a more than commendable cast including the likes of Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana, Guardians of the Galaxy is released later on this year, scheduled for August, 1st.
