The director of the upcoming female reboot of Ghostbusters has stated that the film will incorporate scary themes from the hit television series The Walking Dead.
Paul Feig, who previously helmed Bridesmaids, told AMC’s Talking Dead that the gritty zombie show had proved a big inspiration and that he would try to make the film feel like a dreaded experience for audiences. He said:
“What I love is how they play with the danger, they play with the scariness, but also the idea that it’s always about running the gauntlet.
“That’s something, an element I want to bring to this Ghostbusters reboot is having to get through these various obstacles that are supernatural and all that. I really feed off of The Walking Dead.”
Bridesmaids duo Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy star in the female-led take on the 1984 blockbuster with fellow comedian actresses Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones rounding off the main acting quartet.
Filming is expected to begin on the project later this year.
