In a surprising move, The Batman director, Matt Reeves, has released a short video via his Vimeo page showcasing the brand new Batman costume, which is set to be worn by Robert Pattinson in the upcoming film.
Giving off some serious Daredevil vibes, the 56 second clip sees the new Knight stepping out into the open. Drenched in red light, the test footage shows how Robert Pattinson will look as the caped crusader, as well as both the Bat-symbol and the new cowl.
It appears as though they will be sticking with the traditional colour scheme of black and grey, and not, as many fans speculated, a mixture of navy and grey, which has not been seen on screen since the days of Adam West.
The new suit looks more tactical, resembling the armour used in the fantastic Arkham videogame series, with the symbol embedded into the suit, rather than placed over. This certainly looks like a Batman not to mess with.
The short clip also contains a small taste of what Michael Giacchino (War for the Planet of the Apes, Spider-Man: Far From Home) has in store for the music. It sounds quite different to what has been previously used, but it works very well and could potentially be the best theme so far, if Giacchino’s work with Spider-Man and Rogue One are anything to go by.
Story details are scarce at this point in time, being only described as an “almost noir driven, detective version of Batman” by Matt Reeves, who also wrote the script.
The Batman will feature an incredible casting line-up, with Zoё Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
The movie is currently in production and will be released 21st June 2021.
