Rumoured plot details for Star Wars: Episode VII have surfaced online.
Director JJ Abrams is known for keeping his cards close to his chest, but Latino Review claims to have gotten an inside scoop about the sci-fi project.
John Boyega and Daisy Ridley will apparently serve as the film’s protagonists, their adventure beginning when they stumble across a lightsabre once owned by a certain Luke Skywalker.
Luke – played by original trilogy veteran Mark Hamill – is being held captive by a band of lightsabre-wielding bounty hunters known as the Inquisitors, who are loyal to the Sith, according to the report.
Boyega and Ridley are said to embark on a mission to rescue Luke from the clutches of the shadowy Jedi hunters, encountering fan-favourite characters Han Solo and Chewbacca along the way.
Han and Chewie have apparently been separated from the Millennium Falcon, which is in the hands of Oscar Isaac’s character.
Episode VII is said to include a lengthy flashback – marking a first for the saga – allegedly featuring Darth Vader and a young Princess Leia, played by Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd.
Abrams has officially confirmed little about Episode VII, divulging only that the film will take place approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and focus on a trio of young leads.
Latino Review has a hit-and-miss track record when it comes to these “inside scoops”, so treat the rumours with the proverbial pinch of salt.
Star Wars: Episode VII will be released in December next year.
