Grammy-nominated composer Tom Holkenborg, best known as Junkie XL, has been hired to write the soundtrack for the upcoming Deadpool movie.
Junkie XL is one of the biggest film composers in the industry today. 2014 was the year his career reached new heights, after he composed the scores of Zack Snyder’s 300: Rise of an Empire and Neil Burger’s Divergent. Last year, he also worked on the score for George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
JXL also collaborates with longtime friend and mentor Hans Zimmer (composer of Inception and more). Zimmer brought JXL in to help with addition material for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, along with Man of Steel and will bring him in to compose the Caped Crusader’s score throughout Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Tom confirmed the news himself via Twitter, posting with the photo seen here:
“On Monday I will start on @deadpoolmovie !!!! So excited!!!”

Based on Marvel Comics’ most controversial anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of ex Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson. After he is subject to a rogue experiment that leaves him with lasting healing powers, he adopts the alter ego Deadpool. With new abilities and a dark, unconventional sense of humour, Deadpool tracks down the man almost responsible for his demise.
This is a highly anticipated movie from Marvel, and it is considered a passion project for star Ryan Reynolds who previously appeared in DC Comics’ Green Lantern.
Directed by Tim Miller and starring Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool hits cinemas on February 12th 2016
