Quentin Tarantino has revealed that his next movie will be a Western movie after enjoying getting to grips with sharp shooting cowboys for Django Unchained.
But the Pulp Fiction mastermind said it would not be a sequel to Django, starring Jamie Foxx, which won him an Oscar for Best Screenplay.
Speaking on last night’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The writer-director said now he’s taught himself how to make Westerns, he wants to explore other areas of the genre.
Quentin said: “I haven’t told anyone this publicly, but I will say the genre: It’s a western.
“I had so much fun doing Django, and I love westerns so much that after I taught myself how to make one, it’s like ‘OK! Let me make another one now that I know what I’m doing.”
Quentin also revealed how his writing routine began to change while working on 2009’s Inglourious Basterds.
During the days when he was penning Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, he used to write in public places in the morning to ‘get the juices flowing’ and then go home and write all night.
Quentin famously took to the cafes of Amsterdam to bring his creative juices to the fore for Pulp Fiction and was also fond of quiet corners in Barney’s Beanery and Toi in Hollywood for writing.
Now he writes in his home from 10 in the morning and afterwards soaks in his pool while ruminating about what would happen next in his screenplay.
He added: “Around the time of Inglourious Basterds I’d start writing at home from 10 in the morning until 5, or 6 or 7.
“I sit there, and I think about it and all of these ideas come to me… and I kind of work it out a little bit.
“Then I get out of the pool and I make notes, but then I don’t do them,” he said. “Then the next day, that’s my work.”
Tarantino was on The Tonight Show to promote the DC Comics graphic novel version of Django Unchained.
