Lionsgate and Saban Entertainment have now announced that the Power Rangers will be revived as a new-look film.
The popular 1990s television series was a big hit with youngsters and still remains a nostaglic favourite today.
The plot will see the Power Rangers be re-imagined as a group of high school kids with unusual super powers, who must learn to take control of their abilities as a group in order to save the world.
Saban Entertainment entrepreneur Haim Saban said: “Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level.
“They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from The Hunger Games to Twilight and Divergent.
“In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we’re confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own.”
The colourful warriors had a previous big-screen outing in 1995 which ended up being a critical flop.
No release date has been confirmed yet though casting news should be revealed in the forthcoming months.
