Marvel confirms slate of films for Phase 3: Doctor Strange, Black Panther and more

Marvel Studios has announced plans for its next batch of superhero films for Phase 3.

President Kevin Feige revealed news of the projects for the next few years at a Marvel event in Los Angeles.

Following on from the recent release of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, it has been confirmed that the next superhero film will be the third Captain America outing, which has been officially titled as Captain America: Civil War. The release date has been scheduled for 6th May, 2016.

That will then be followed by the cinematic debut of Doctor Strange which will be released on 4th November, 2016. British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is being tipped to take on the titular role.

Sequels have also been green-lit for Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor. The former is due out on 5th May, 2017 with the latter, titled Thor: Ragnorak, released on 28th July, 2017.

There are also standalone films for Black Panther and Captain Marvel with release dates confirmed for 3rd November, 2017 and 6th July, 2018 respectively.

Feige finally concluded the lineup by announcing that a two-part Avengers sequel, subtitled Infinity War, will hit cinemas in May 2018 and May 2019.
