A teaser poster for Jurassic World has debuted online ahead of San Diego’s pop culture extravaganza, Comic-Con International.
The promotional banner was designed by artist Mark Englert, who has shed some light on the Jurassic Park sequel’s themes via his blog.
“After milling over what I’d like to see as a fan, I decided to try and incorporate elements from the previous movies and try to connect how they have led up to the newest story in the series,” he wrote.
“Jurassic World takes place back on Isla Nublar, where the park from the first movie failed before it even opened.
“I wanted to subtly establish the setting, the theme of nature overtaking technology and that a new park with a new story was being built on what had come before… I also just wanted a cool shot of a Raptor.”
Englert’s illustration depicts a velociraptor watching over its nest, which lies inside a trashed Ford Explorer from the original Jurassic Park.
Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins, as well as Judy Greer, Jake Johnson and Omar Sy.
The film will take place 22 years after the 1993 original and reportedly see the titular theme park in operation, complete with sea-based dinosaurs.
Jurassic World will arrive in cinemas on June 12 next year.
