Community’s recent addition to the UK’s Netflix, has bought it to the attention of a new wave of viewers, strengthening the already strong fanbase behind the show, and once again bringing up the question of when we will be getting the movie.
The hashtag SixSeasonsAndAMovie has been following the show since its finale, and fans are still pushing it enough to be noticed. Luckily enough, it seems those involved with the show are fully behind it too. Dan Harmon, the shows creator, has told fans that “conversations are happening that people would want to be happening”, and “when conversations happen, things happen”. Definitely vague, but still exciting for anyone hoping to see the cult show make its return.
Not only that, Gillian Jacobs, Britta in the show, recently told Entertainment Weekly “It just requires a script and a budget”, adding “I think if there was a movie, we would all do it”.
She seems to be right there, since Alison Brie, or Annie Edison, has also said she is “down to make the movie”, telling fans to “stay tuned” on that front, and Joel Mchale, actor behind the loveable jerk Jeff Winger, told Indiewire “It would be great to do, I’d do it in a New York minute”. The actor has previously implied that Donald Glover, and the return of his character Troy, may be integral to the completion of the show’s movie.
Luckily for fans, it looks like that may happen. Glover has recently been involved in a Community related reunion, for the first time since the show ended. The cast will be reuniting to do a script reading together, of the season five episode ‘Cooperative Polygraphy’, supporting José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen and Frontline Foods in the process.
