The Great Gatsby star Carey Mulligan has spoken out about her sadness for the dying art of love letters, revealing that she keeps the flame flying with hubby Marcus Mumford by penning hand written notes.

The showbiz couple met as children after becoming pen pals and still keep in touch by sending romantic letters to each other.

The pair recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary, but spend a lot of time apart while Marcus is on tour and she is filming on location.

Carey, 27 said: “Love letters are becoming a lost art form, which is very sad.

“To receive a love letter from someone, to hold it in your hand and know that you can keep it for your whole life, that’s an amazing thing.”

Marcus, 26, proposed just five months after they began dating.

The Drive actress also recently revealed that when the two go out together, she is barely recognised, her husband instead receives all the attention.
