The existence of Army of Darkness 2 has leaked from Bruce Campbell himself during a panel at Wizard World Nashville Comic Con.
When asked by a fan “Are you going to make a sequel to Army of Darkness?” the Evil Dead star replied, “The last one was twenty-two years ago, I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I used to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here.” before eventually admitting “Alright sir, the answer is yes.”
Reports that director Sam Raimi had been threatening a sequel have been circulating for months, but this is our first confirmation.
Campbell blames the delay in the release of a sequel on clashes in schedules for both himself and director Sam Raimi.
The delay does mean Bruce Campbell’s ‘Ash Williams’ would have aged, but he assures fans that he will whipp himself into shape.
But joked about having to “stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath.”
Campbell has also made offhand comments about a sequel to the rebooted Evil Dead film that would tie the two franchises together. This is still to be confirmed, but that would be ‘groovy’.
There’s still no word on a possible release date for the sequel, although reports suggest Raimi was working on a draft as early as September.
