While 2020 may not have been the biggest year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all is not lost. 2021 may be ready to help the MCU rise again, with it set to be a much bigger year for the franchise.

As always, the top heroes look like they’ll be the ones to watch. Yes, that includes Deadpool. Now that Disney has the rights to the mere with a mouth, Marvel Studios head Kevin Fiege has confirmed that the Heroe’s next escapade will be rated R in the US.

Kevin Fiege recently discussed Deadpool 3 in an interview to promote the Disney+ premiere of WandaVision, and confirmed that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is helping oversee the script.

“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now,” Feige shared.

Fiege updated fans on when Deadpool 3 may start shooting, saying that he doesn’t believe the movie will get underway this year, but that he and Reynolds are doing what they can to ensure they get Deadpool’s MCU entry just right. While that may mean focusing on other projects for now, Marvel Studios certainly has a plethora of content to work on in the mean time.

“It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

With fans itching to seee Deadpool enter the MCU, it’s great to know that Ryan Reynolds is getting stuck in with the involvement of the hero’s transition into the franchise. It appears that this rating will give Deadpool the room that he needs to be more of himself. It’ll be exciting to see what happens with the MCU once Wade Wilson enters the fray.
