Creators of Star Wars: The Force Awakens are to be prosecuted after Harrison Ford’s leg was broken on set, aboard the Millennium Falcon.
The man behind the iconic character, Han Solo, was airlifted to hospital after the malfunction of a hydraulic door back in 2014, causing serious injuries to his leg. Harrison received a £1million compensation payout for his injuries after being restricted to a wheelchair for several weeks.
It has now come to light that the British health and safety watchdog are to prosecute the film production company, Foodles Production, for not taking the necessary precautions and actions.
A Health and Safety Executive spokesman said:
“By law, employers must take reasonable steps to protect workers – this is as true on a film set as a factory floor.
“We have investigated thoroughly and believe that we have sufficient evidence to bring the case to court.”
The expected payout is estimated to exceed £1.5million.
