Daniel Craig’s last outing as 007 sees him living in the Caribbean, no longer part of Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and he will be replaced as agent 007.
Although Bond has left active service his peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.
In a story with echoes of the Goldfinger and Diamonds are forever plots, this leads Bond on the trail of a mysterious villain, armed with dangerous new technologies.
“We consider Jamaica bond’s spiritual home. He starts his journey here.” said executive producer Barbara Broccoli.
Actress Lashana Lynch will be Nomi and reports have suggested that Nomi will be introduced as the new 007 in Bond 25, with the film making the history with the first female M16 agent with that code name.
Lashana is a 31 years-old British woman with Jamaican ancestry who also played in Captain Marvel.
And the forecasts are that this film will include the most progressive and feminist plot introduced into the iconic franchise to date.
An insider is quoted as saying: “There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says ‘Come in 007’, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman.
“It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.”
Rami Malek, who won an Oscar for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody, has been confirmed as playing a Bond villain.
“I promise you all I will be making sure Mr Bond doesn’t have an easy ride in this, his 25th outing,” said Malik.
Rumours have it that other actors have already been cast: Christoph Waltz as Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the SPECTRE chief, previously played by Donald Pleasance, and Ana de Armas as Paloma, Bond’s new lover.
On the big screen we will also see actors from the previous 007 film: Ralph Fiennes will play Lieutenant Colonel Gareth Mallory or MI6 bos ‘M’, and Ben Whishaw will play deadly weapons boffin Q.
There’s no confirmation that Lashana will replace Craig to become the new Bond in the 26th film.
Some observers have suggested that new the James Bond could be Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy Richard Madden or Idris Elba.
The film that marks the 25th James Bond’s adventure will be released in UK in time for Easter, on the 3rd April 2020.
