Avengers: Age of Ultron’s recent teaser footage has become the most-viewed trailer in the history of Marvel Studios.
The debut trailer for Joss Whedon’s superhero sequel attracted 34.3 million global watchers within 24 hours of its release, according to Entertainment Weekly.
An estimated 26.2 million of that figure tuned into Marvel’s official YouTube channel to view the footage, while the rest saw it on various media outlets.
The previous record was set by a Captain America: The Winter Soldier promo, which managed 23.5 million hits upon release.
Marvel acted quickly to release the Avengers 2 trailer ahead of schedule after it was leaked online. The footage was originally supposed to debut during ABC’s broadcast of Agents of SHIELD on 28th October.
Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released in UK cinemas on 24th April, 2015.
