According to reports from Marvel, improv-actor Paul Rudd has beaten Batman star Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star as Henry Pym in Marvel’s up and coming Antman film.
Rumours that the Anchorman actor would play Antman surfaced earlier in the year, but according to Marvel sources the actor has been chosen and is currently “training himself for the physical role of Antman.”
Audiences noticed the Hollywood funny man’s trim shape after he appeared on Saturday Night Live for an Anchorman 2 interview.
The Antman movie is being directed by British film maker Edgar Wright who recently concluded Simon Pegg’s Cornetto trilogy.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige said: “It’s very much an ‘Ant-Man’ origin movie from the perspective of Edgar Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish, It will of course be firmly planted in the (Marvel Cinematic Universe), but a different corner than we’ve seen before.”
No more details on characters or plot have been released at this point.
Antman is slated for release some time in 2015.
