Iconic video and online casino game character Lara Croft is set to return to movie screens in a reboot of the Tomb Raider film series. Angelina Jolie brought immense star power to the two movies released in 2001 and 2003, with the illustrious actor becoming synonymous with the name of Lara Croft.

The mantle has been thrown to Alicia Vikander for the reboot, with the Swedish actor recently involved in action movies such as Jason Bourne and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Vikander will be aware of the high expectations that come with portraying a famous character whose appeal has translated from video games into movies, online casino slot games and comic books. However, Vikander certainly looks the part based on the release of new posters for the movie.

The reboot based on a reboot

Fittingly, the cinematic reboot will be based on the reboot of the gaming franchise, 2013’s Tomb Raider – which was also the theme of a slot game. The game revisited and reshaped Lara Croft’s origin story, meeting the adventurer before she reaches the peak of her skills.

Croft is extremely intelligent and capable of performing incredible physical feats, with the games following her archaelogical adventures in a style resembling a cross between Indiana Jones and the Uncharted video game franchise, the latter taking cues from the trailblazing Tomb Raider games.

The rich environments and gambling nature of Croft meant a move into the world of movies was inevitable for this character. The first movie, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, had a lukewarm reception, but responses were more positive for the sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Jolie’s performance was widely praised, while the action sequences were able to capture what makes the video games so attractive. Vikander has stated that her portrayal will be different from Jolie’s as a result of the nature of the story, and she will benefit from a strong supporting cast including Dominic West and Walton Goggins.

Gambling with Lara Croft

Part of the reason behind the success of Tomb Raider is the high-octane nature of Croft’s adventures. It is unsurprising that this appeal has transferred into casino games such as slot machines and the aforementioned movies.

Like Croft searching for hidden treasures, players can feel immersed in the jackpot game as a result of the inherently interesting quest element that comes to Tomb Raider games of all forms, but none as exciting as 100 free spins no deposit australia.

Comic-book makers similarly noticed the appeal of Croft’s adventures, with the adventurer the basis of a series of issues that took place in diverse locations across the world.

The iconic status of Croft has also encouraged many aficionados to dress up as the character, with Jolie’s portrayal catapulting the adventurer firmly into public consciousness. Vikander has all of the skills required to make a similar impression to Jolie, and fans will be hoping that the reboot encapsulates the thrill of the video games and casino games while bringing new depth to Croft’s origin story and the locations to which she travels.
