The week in gaming: inc. Lego Marvel Avengers, Nintendo NX & more

Here are some of the main talking points from in this edition of The Week in Gaming.

Monday 12th October

Lego Marvel’s Avengers will include six films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Publisher Warner Bros. confirmed that as well as the two current Avengers movies the game will utilise; Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3.

Tuesday 13th October

Bloodborne is set to receive a Game of the Year Edition. It will launch 27 November 2015 and include the DLC story expansion The Old Hunters.

The current trend appears to be fans remaking or modding games using modern capabilities and the original Deus Ex has been given the same treatment. The only difference is this new mod on the classic title has the full support and authorisation by publishers Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal. Entitled Deus Ex Revision, developed by Caustic Creative, the game updates the original’s graphics and soundtrack. Revision is available for free on Steam.

The developers of Allison Road have cancelled the Kickstarter campaign due to the creation of a partnership with publisher Team 17. An official statement reads, “Working with Team17 will give us the chance to make our game unhindered creatively, but at the same time will give us the resources, support and experience that only a 25 year old studio can give,”.

The developers have confirmed they will look at different ways, outside Kickstarter, for already fans to become involved in the game.

Wednesday 14th October

Reports suggest Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, originally realised in 2006 as both a launch title for Wii U and one of the final titles for Gamecube, will be bestowed with the HD Remaster treatment to. A fan located a shop icon for “Twilight Princess HD” on Nintendo’s eShop servers, adding to further speculation. Nintendo have yet to comment.

Dino Dini’s Kick Off, one of the most iconic football games, is to be rebooted with Dini involved. Due out on PlayStation 4 and Vita in 2016 the game is simply called Dino Dini’s Kick Off Revival and will be the first since 2002.

Thursday 15th October

Nintendo has announced Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros, the 3DS role-playing game, launches in Europe on 4th December 2015 with the North American release still set for 2016. , Nintendo has announced.

Paper Jam Bros. is the fifth Mario & Luigi RPG title and also a crossover with the separate Paper Mario series as Paper Mario joins the plumber brother team for a three-man duel system.

Friday 16th October

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal Nintendo’s NX project may be either be a console and handheld hybrid or a share a combination of the two. The author of the article suggests, “The exact shape of the NX hardware isn’t yet clear.

People familiar with the development plans said Nintendo would likely include both a console and at least one mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use”. Following this the same author has stated, on Twitter, that the NX platform is “likely to have… more than two devices.”
