Here are some of the main talking points from in this edition of The Week in Gaming.
Monday 9th November
As reported last week, Square Enix Twitter polled Final Fantasy fans on whether or not to include Moogles in Final Fantasy XV. The publisher has confirmed this will now be an actuality as Hajime Tabata, game director, tweeted, “Congrats Moogle! I’d like to thank everyone that voted. I will think of a fun little way to feature Moogles in #FFXV.”
Rocket League’s free match mutators DLC update is now available to download. The patch includes an array of new options including thirteen new antennas that pay homage to other video games such as; Unreal Tournament, Fallout, Oddworld and Driveclub. Custom Mutator settings, in both Exhibition and Private Matches, can be altered as well as Mutator Mashup now added to Unranked Playlist menu.
Furthermore players can also adjust a variety of settings, for example; turning the ball into a Beach Ball, adding extra bounce in Pinball and turning off weather effects.
Tuesday 10th November
EA has launched a companion app and web-based version in time for Star Wars Battlefront launch. Versions for iPhone/iPad and Android devices are now available to download via the App Store and Google Play, respectively.
Wednesday 11th November
To support League of Explorers expansion launch, Hearthstone’s latest update also includes some extra content. Harth Stonebrew, the games innkeeper mascot, now delivers several new greetings, one of which references the notorious Grim Patron card. Other new additions include a new card back, earned for beating the Adventure in Heroic mode, plus two new game boards.
Thursday 12th November
Life is Strange, Dontnod’s episodic adventure, is set to receive a Limited Edition retail release on PS4, Xbox One and PC, publisher Square Enix has revealed. The game will launch 19th January in North America and 2nnd January in Europe. It must be noted the PC version is exclusive to Europe.
Nintendo delivered Nintendo Direct with several interesting notes. Firstly Cloud Strife, Final Fantasy VII protagonist, will be available to play in Super Smash Bros. WiiU/3DS next month. Also, in a somewhat surprising shake-up to the Legend of Zelda series, a new female Link will will be introduced to Hyrule Warriors Legends, the expanded 3DS version of WiiU’s Hyrule Warriors. Called Linkle, the new female character bares a striking resemblance to Link with many believing the character may play a part in the upcoming main Zelda WiiU title. Regarding Legend of Zelda WiiU a new 13 second teaser trailer was shown to confirm a 2016 release date.
Furthering the Zelda news Nintendo also confirmed a HD port of Twilight Princess as well as Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass soon to be available on the Wii U eShop. Lastly Star Fox Zero release date, originally due this month, has been confirmed April 2016.
Friday 13th November
EA Sports has revealed Ronda Rousey will be the cover star for UFC2, due 2016. The game also introduces five major game modes; Career mode (now including the option to create a female fighter), Title Chase system for Online Championships, KO mode, UFC Ultimate Team and Custom Event Creator mode.
Game of War has launched a new game, Mobile Strike, that contains Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness. Similar to Game of War this new mobile title is a freemium game which contains a vast
amount of microtransactions.
