Managing Director of Curly Productions Ltd, Christian Hughes started his own YouTube Channel after being disappointed by the quality of educational videos online for his children to watch.

Now a family-run production company – Toddler Fun Learning has a mission to “educate children across the world through safe, fun and engaging digital content”.

Christian’s idea has resulted in a YouTube Channel with 87 million views and 108,000 subscribers. And that’s not all, his second channel, “How to be a Dad” has clocked up 24 million views and 34,000 subscribers and he has now advised global brands such as Virgin Limited Edition and TSB bank.

To help businesses and individuals sharpen their YouTube skills, Christian is launching his first YouTube Masterclass in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle.

Now a registered YouTube certified provider, he believes a small investment of time and money may be all you need to start your journey to generating quality content that is liked, commented on, shared and promotes you, your channel and your brand.

“YouTube is such an exciting place to be at the moment for both individuals who have a passion which they want to broadcast to the world, and for brands who want to communicate with new and existing customers. My passion is to get people thinking differently about how to create content on YouTube so that everyone benefits; the audience gets to watch entertaining content, and the creator builds a loyal and sustainable audience.”

Many people don’t realise that YouTube is the 3rd most visited website in the world (after only Google and Facebook), and the 2nd largest search engine in the world, where 300 hours of video content is uploaded every minute.

Given the amount of time and money marketers spend on SEO and social media activity, underestimating the power of YouTube, or thinking it’s all just Minecraft videos and dancing cats can be a deadly mistake.

Now, eight out of ten 18-49 year olds watch YouTube in an average month and as YouTube is owned by Google, being watched on YouTube will in turn affect your ranking on Google Search.

Google considers video to be as important as text-only pages; due to Google Universal Search, videos, images, news, books and local searches are blended together in Google’s search results, so as to provide the most useful information for people searching.

Creating complementary videos to use alongside any high-quality articles on your site will build backlinks to your site, meaning you get found on Google more often by people searching.

By utilising YouTube as part of your marketing strategy for your business, you’re also increasing the authority of your website. The more authoritative your website is in Google’s eyes, the higher all your pages will rank in the search results.

So if there’s a widely accessible platform, that everyone is using, watching every day and engaging with, liking, sharing, commenting and then purchasing why isn’t every business, company and brand using YouTube?

What are the barriers to using the platform? What skills do you need to make the most of the opportunities YouTube offers? Can you literally throw together a video on your phone and hope it goes viral? What are the key elements to making successful video content that appeals, is liked, shared and watched by millions?

The first step is to ensure you educate, entertain, provide a solution and generate remarkable content. This may come naturally to you, or you may need to open yourself up to learning and exploring and finding out what you need to know.

The 3-hour interactive session will give attendees insight into how Christian set up his two multi-million view channels, the lessons he has learned along the way and how you can apply these lessons to your own YouTube channel strategy.

The workshop is interactive, so Christian will be working with attendees to generate their own ideas using worksheets and through discussions.

The Masterclass is on Wednesday 23rd November 2016 at 09:00-12:00 at Baltic Creative, Liverpool.
