Xzibit: Planking has its origins in slavery – rapper hits out at online craze

The West Coast rapper and ex-Pimp My Ride host has spoken out against the planking craze via his Twitter account.

X to the Z tweeted that; “Planking is THE dumbest shit ever,”

He then followed this with an explanation:

“Planking was a way to transport slaves on ships during the slave trade, it’s not funny. Educate yourselves,”

He later had this to say “Don’t get it twisted. I care less where your dumb asses lay face down and take pictures of the shit, I’m just telling you where it came from.”

Planking is the latest online craze of laying flat on your face with your hands by your side, snapping the happy moment and posting it online.

After recent concerns of safety relating to the craze could this be the end of possibly the weirdest viral phenonemum?

Also will there be any backlash for certain artists who have chosen to participate in the act namely Kings of Leon, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber.
