Xbox One is submerged by Microsoft in shark infested water until release date

Microsoft have submerged the first ever Xbox One to be handed over to consumers in a tank filled with sharks.

To mark the first ever console sold, one lucky gamer will receive the console, it is believed, live at the Vodafone music awards in New Zealand.

New Zealand will be the first of 13 to countries to release the Xbox One on November 22, but until then the first console will remain submerged under 3.5m of shark infested water.

Xbox New Zealand’s Steve Blackburn thanked the ‘passionate gaming community’ in New Zealand for helping secure the international launch of the Xbox One.

He went on to claim that sharks were being used because they were the ‘best bodyguards’.

Reeling from a suppliers system error that saw a small number of Xbox One’s sent out ahead of the November 22 release date, Microsoft assures gamers that the submerged console will be the first official console to be released by Microsoft.

In a statement an Xbox spokesman said Microsoft intend to restrict the functionality of the Xbox One until the day one patch is installed on November 22.

“Given we are still putting the finishing touches on our games, UI and online services, as well as confidential partner and media agreements, these console units will be restricted from connecting to Xbox Live until closer to our launch date.”
