Plan B has admitted that one of the main reasons why he made the transition from gritty hip-hop star to soulful crooner was so that he would finally get booked for Glastonbury.

The London singer had previously been given the cold shoulder by event organiser Michael Eavis and he believes it was because his music was not as accessible as it could have been.

At the beginning of his fledgling career he had a more grimey, unforgiving sound; but eventually realised a change of tact was in order if he wanted to reach the masses.

Plan B said, “My Lyrics were coarse, the themes were really dark and a lot of doors got slammed in my face. Radio stations wouldn’t play me. Glastonbury wouldn’t book me.”
