A photographer dubbed the ‘Willy Wonka’ of art has create a series of unique pictures using only food.
Carl Warner, 50, first thinks up the foodscapes and sketches out his ideas before putting together the fantastical creations.
After buying the fresh produce, he spends days assembling the scene using pins and superglue.
Ranging from an undersea coralscape, to balloons in the sky to a wild west scene, Carl uses fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish to build the surreal worlds.
Each scene is photographed in layers starting with the foreground, then the background and sky. The elements are then put together in post-production to achieve the complete scene.
Carl, who works from a London studio, was born in Liverpool before moving to Kent and becoming an advertising photographer in the 1980s.
But noticing some strange looking portobello mushrooms at a food market, his imagination ran wild and he began making foodscapes, starting with the mushrooms which he made into a savanna.
According to the photographer, his new pieces are aimed at encouraging healthy eating among younger children, making healthy options more appealing.
A selection of his foodscapes are to go on show from this Saturday, 30th November, at Ripley’s, London.
The centrepiece will be a festive village scene made from over 2,000 cookies which took more than three weeks to complete.
Carl will also meet visitors and host a question and answer session about his work the opening day between 2pm and 4pm.
The exhibition will run until January 8.
