A unique artwork dubbed ‘Mount Fab Four’ featuring the faces of John, Paul, George and Ringo is on display at the Liverpool International Musical Festival’s art gallery.

The piece is a nod to the famous Mount Rushmore with US presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln carved into the rock in South Dakota.

Commissioned by Purple Revolver, the sculpture was created by Liverpool artist Terance McGunigle depicts late 60s era John Lennon wearing his distinctive round-framed glasses alongside fellow Beatles.

Speaking about the gallery, Purple Revolver Creative Director Andy Johnson said: “The Beatles had to be a main feature.

“I felt it must be something original, which is a tall order with the Beatles, because it’s all been said and done before.

“During a chat with my mum about an old holiday to The States, she mentioned Mount Rushmore and the penny dropped.

“We hope we can make the city’s music and art fans proud.”

The piece will be on display as part of free art exhibition Tomorrow Never Knows at The Grand Hall, Albert Dock until September 22nd.
