The organisers of the Merseyside Women of the Year (MWOTY) awards have announced the postponement of the event to a new date in September, due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.
The annual celebration of the region’s unsung heroines, which was due to take place on Friday 26th June at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool, is now set to take place on Friday 11th September 2020 at the same venue.
The change in date means that nominations for the awards will now be open until 11:59pm on Friday 12th June, with the public vote for the overall Merseyside Woman of the Year opening on Monday 13th July until 11:59pm on Friday 14th August.
Ellen Kerr and Jean Gadsby, organisers of the Merseyside Women of the Year (MWOTY) awards said: “Following advice and updates from Public Health England and the UK Government, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the Merseyside Women of the Year awards event to a new date on Friday 11th September. Any tickets already purchased will remain valid for the rearranged date.
“The MWOTY awards are a much loved part of the city’s summer events calendar and the decision to postpone has not been taken lightly. However, the health and wellbeing of our team, guests, sponsors, suppliers and inspirational women is paramount.
“We look forward to delivering a fantastic 10th anniversary on 11th September and encourage everyone to take advantage of the extended nomination period, by shining a light on the inspirational women in your lives, communities and workplaces.
“We would like to thank the team at Crowne Plaza Liverpool, our suppliers and our fabulous MWOTY family for its support and patience during this uncertain and unprecedented time.”
In light of the ongoing pandemic, the MWOTY team is continuing to follow updates and guidance from Public Health England and the UK Government and any further information will be communicated via the MWOTY website merseysidewomenoftheyear.co.uk and social channels.
If any existing event ticket holders have questions regarding the new date, please contact Ellie or Jean via the MWOTY website.
Michael W Halsall Solicitors, will return as the event’s headline sponsor for the seventh consecutive year. Other category sponsors for 2020 include Leonard Curtis, Community Foundation for Merseyside, Neo Community and ADD Solutions, Courage & Sparkle, Everton FC and FPC Financial Services.
