Liverpool is enjoying a huge renaissance and you don’t have to be a giant striding in from the sea to get some perspective on the creative wave washing over the city.
The powers that be will hail this artistic energy as a great legacy from our 2008 reign as European Capital of Culture, which is right.
But we’d venture the waters run deeper. The city looking out on the Mersey has grown accustomed to fighting its way through tough times and looking for its own answers when justice seems harder to come by than credit.
Liverpool’s creative spark has a lot to do with the city being able to retain more graduates than ever before.
Many are staying, rather than following the big smoke signals South in search for work. They know there is a lack of jobs across the country.
But they are setting up businesses and working with their contacts, creating event promotion companies or bespoke retail shops.
