The world famous Jacaranda have outlined that they intend to firmly stick to their grassroots music history after opening a new larger venue in the Baltic market.

During the planning of the opening party, the creative team changed their minds from booking bigger names to keeping their focus on showcasing up and coming musicians.

This has been the main focus since the venue first was opened in 1958, by The Beatles’ first manager Allan Williams. Liverpool’s vibrant music scene looks set to get even better after the successful opening of the new Jacaranda in the Baltic Market.

Jacaranda’s new venue will also offer a curated selection of vinyl records, merchandise, and memorabilia. Music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to discover rare gems to expand their collection.

We spoke with Graham Stanley, the Managing Director, who expanded on their ambitions to develop opportunities for up and coming musicians.

He said: “We put the brakes on what we were planning with booking big names for our opening and picked five of our favourite local acts, that we’ve worked closely with over the past few years. We have built up a good grassroots community with Liverpool acts and that is most important.”

The iconic institution is set to bring a whole new platform to grassroots and up-and-coming artists in the city.

Their opening party was a huge accomplishment for a new venue in such a competitive area, with more than 400 people in attendance.

Graham added: “The very first show that we did was Shed Seven and what a way to launch a venue. They received their number one album award on stage before the show, which I just thought was a perfect start to our new home for live music.

“We now have the opportunity to do bigger shows and more people can come down to see what’s happening on the scene. Artists now the chance to sell more albums, especially the local bands.”

The Jacaranda will undoubtedly attract music lovers from all over the city and beyond. Have you been to their new place? Let us know your thoughts below.
