Here at Purple Revolver HQ, comics rule our world. The artwork, the stories, yes, give us more… so it’s no surprise that we’re mega excited for Free Comic Book Day – TOMORROW.
It’s the one day every year that comic fans can get a taste of what’s happening or about to hit their top heroes with free comics at your local store.
The idea is to attract new and old customers to pick up a new title or return to a forgotten favourite. So here’s our quick preview of the comics available this Saturday.
IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, carries on from Donatello’s recent death.
Hip Hop Family Tree features a Dr Dre origin story, which depicts him as a youngster DJ that gets inspire to become a rap superstar – well worth a read!
DC’s Divergence, boasts three short stories about DC’s heroes’ trinity and the future. First up is Batman, the conclusion of the End Games story, with the identity of the new robotic looking Batman.
Bursting out the middle is about Superman and potential big changes for him. The final story is centred on Wonder Woman, set in the past and showing bits of the future and it’s from the Justice League Dark Side War comic.
We also highly recommend picking up Marvel’s Secret War Zero, following Valeria Richards, the daughter of Sue & Reed Richards, following her team, the Future Foundation, who piece together a plan how not to lose, with worlds colliding, how do they not lose the war?
At the end of the book, we see the 616 Universe and the Ultimate Universe about to collide. This book also features Attack On Avengers, an Attack On Titans & Avengers crossover, very cheesy action, but a great read nonetheless.
Now for a look at the Marvel Universe post Secret Wars with the All New, All Different Avengers, after everything has happened.
This is an all new Marvel Universe and the aftermath with the team comprising of Ms Marvel, who’s on her first day as an Avenger, Captain America leading, Thor, The Vision and Iron Man.
Finally, also included in this issue is a preview of The Uncanny Inhumans. We see just what Johnny Storm’s role on the team is going to be.
If you’re interested in comics, Free Comic Book Day is a brilliant day for you, even if you’re not into comics, it’s definitely worth checking out.
