Should the next Doctor be female? This is the big question that is going around Doctor Who fans.

The series teased that after a regeneration a Time lord can become either male or female from The Master when he regenerated and later came back into the series as Missy.

But the BBC responded by saying, “Be assured there are currently no plans to have a female Doctor Who.”

BBC also put out a statement saying, “No casting decisions have yet been made on series 11”

But this could mean that they have made a casting decision for series 10 as the trailer for this season shows the Doctor surrounded with regeneration energy so they may have already found their new Doctor.

But many fans think that this is not the plan because when David Tennant was the tenth doctor he regenerated and stayed with the same face, so there are a lot of different opinions on this.

But Peter Capaldi has said that he has already shot his death on screen, this confirms that we will be getting a new Doctor. But who?

There has been rumours about who it will be and lots of names are being thrown around on who will play the Gallifreyan.

Apparently Kris Marshall has been chosen to play the thirteenth Doctor according to an insider on Doctor Who.

His first scene has already been filmed apparently.

So who is Kris Marshall? He is well known for playing his role of Nick Harper in the BBC family sitcom My Family.

This only creates more rumours as his on-screen mother in My Family, actress Zoe Wanamaker, has had a role in Doctor Who, portraying Lady Cassandra.

Kris was also in the hit film Love Actually.

But because he has a good charm for bumbling and eccentric British-ness in which we have already seen in a previous Doctor, would he be a good fit?

Will it even be Kris Marshall?

I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough who the next Doctor will be!
